4 Peaks Canmore – September 1, 2016

On September 1, my friend Tyler Williams and I will be doing a hiking fundraiser to raise awareness and funds for mental health initiatives.  This is the biggest physical experience I’ve ever had in one day. This is a bigger undertaking than the “4 Peak” fundraiser that we did last year with a couple of other friends. I’m excited and nervous about it!

What will the day look like?

We’ll ride our bikes from Banff to Canmore in the early morning hours. After that we’ll hike Grotto Mountain, Lady Macdonald, East End of Rundle, and Ha Ling Peak while biking in between them. After coming down from the last peak we’ll bike back to Banff. It will be over 60 km of biking, 35+ km of hiking, and over 13,000 vertical feet of hiking. The hikes go in order from most technical and longest to the easiest.

Why are you guys doing this??

For two primary reasons. The first is to raise awareness and funds for two causes that we are both passionate about. Tyler is raising funds for Parkinson Canada. Someone he admired and looked up to passed away from it earlier this year. I am raising money for the International Bipolar Foundation (IBPF). Since being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2000, I have benefitted greatly from the education and advocacy that the IBPF does.

The second reason is to get out of our physical comfort zones. This is a huge day for both of us!

How can I support you two?

1. Donate to Parkinson Canada for Tyler’s fundraising

2. Donate to the International Bipolar Foundation for Scott’s fundraising
Please put an asterisk (*) after your first name so that the IBPF can associate your donation with 4 Peaks Canmore. Thank you!

3. If you live in the Banff/Canmore area and would like to give a cash donation, shoot either of us a message and we’ll get it arranged.

4. If you’re unable to donate at this time or choose to donate to other causes, we’d greatly appreciate your encouragement! A reply to this post and/or a comment on either of our Facebook pages would be awesome 🙂
